John Daly, IMO, will improve when he starts and consistently attends AA meetings, diets, and focuses on what is left of his golf career. Will he do this? The chances are slim. Until he recognizes what he needs to do, and then does it, we will be subjected to his self-destructive behavior until, like Britney Spears, he collapses.

As a recovering substance abuser (13 years clean and sober) i recognize all the signs Daly is exhibiting. He does need help, and Finchem cannot provide this help. He can be suspended and fined all day, but at the end of the day he still will need the help from a qualified rehab setting. Only Daly himself can ask for this help, and until he really wants to save his life he will continue down this very dark path possibly to his death. It is sad to see such a talent wasted, i have followed Dalys career from his win at Crooked Stick, i really hope he sees the light at the end of the tunnel before it is too late.

This guy needs discipline and then he needs psychiatric help. He has been crying in distress a long time. It is too bad in this world he may never get the help he deserves until he has absolutely no value in the market. Is there anyone out here who really cares about what happens to big John?

As with Bill Clinton I don't think it should be looked upon as bad press for the PGA just as i felt clintons problim was a marital one and none of the rest of our buisness.Daily missed a tee time.So what.I don't see that it hurt the PGA or even Arnie's event You simply go on without him.The good think about the PGA and all of it's players is you only get paid for results. All Daily did was cost himself moneyWhen he is not making the kind of money he wishes he can start playing better and as you say his behavuor is simply who he is.

John Daly is not real bright. Never has been. I once played in a tournament in which he participated, at Hot Springs Village, back in 1989. He attended a sponsored party and got blind, stumblin', fallin' down drunk.
Some of his friends took him back to his room and poured him into bed.
Should the PGA Tour punish him? Of course they should. Do they have the guts to do anything other than slap his wrists? I don't think so. I do believe, however, that the situation will take care of itself. I heard one of the commentators on the Golf Channel comment that he is playing to about a 5 handicap. Sponsors can't all be stupid. Eventually, they are going to get the idea and the exemptions will dry up. It's just a matter of time.

John Daly needs to take a break and the PGA needs to enforce it. The question is will John Daly change his behavior. I lean towards, I don't think so. John Daly has grown to enjoy his reputation and those that he hangs with, who loves to party will alway believe in John. John is a drinker and even though he believe that he dosen't have a drinking problem he dose. Party always comes before golf, if golf was his passion he would put 110% into the game. Butch was right to let him go, and the PGA should wake up and relize that even though John brings in the money for the tour there is a point where you need to look at the people who are supporting John Daly. I believe they think like John and loves to drink and have fun. As long as the PGA emables John to continue to play on the tour, John will not change. John needs to hit bottom as far as playing on tour. Until that happens John will continue his ways.
