Many of these golf instruction books have been around for years, but the information they contain is timeless and are still of assistance to present-day golfers. It is these books that have contributed to the very fundamentals of the instruction methods utilized on the greens by instructors around the world.

Ben Hogan’s Five Golf Lessons has got to be the single book that would be chosen as one of the most significant golf instruction books ever produced. Hogan’s secret are legend and, while perhaps not the best book for a beginner or even an average golfer, still brings strong influence it the world of those providing golf instruction and more serious followers.

Golf Instruction Books

The Little Red Book, written by Harvey Penick, has been in publication for two decades. Penick was over eighty years old when his book first hit the market and is a treasure trove of Harvey’s sixty years of offering stellar golf instruction. It is the most widely sold book offering golf instruction ever.
The Golf Channel has bought us some popular instructional short films from Bobby Jones, who is arguably the distinguished amateur golfer the sport has ever produced. Bobby Jones on Golf is a must for every golfer collecting golf instruction books.
Another Jones has contributed in a significant manner to golf instruction and that is Ernest Jones, the first instructional luminary to enter the golf instruction world with his classic book, “Swing the Clubhead.”
Tommy Armour, also known as The Silver Scot, one of the world’s greatest players became one of the world’s most sought-after instructors. This book – “How to Play Your Best Golf All the Time” – shares Armour’s methods, as he did – indeed – play HIS best golf most of the time, bringing home over thirty wins during his PGA career.
One of the most greatly respected and prominent instructors of the early 1940’s has got to be Percy Boomer. His book, “On Learning Golf” has reached over twenty reprints since contemporary golfers find it to be an invaluable resource.
Another fabulous source of printed golf instruction is Jack Nicklaus’ “Golf My Way”. Nicklaus’ popularity, valuable information and Nicklaus’ engaging communication style made this book an instant classic, garnering it many reprints as well as a series of visuals available first on VHS tape and now on DVD.

You will indeed need to participate in stretching and warm up activities before starting your round of golf.  Plan on arriving at the course an hour before tee time.  Choose a golf training DVD or golf training video focused on fitness instruction.  Start your warm up with a few good stretches at the driving range.  Once you’re loosened up, hit a few balls.  Start with wedges, then middle irons and long irons, finishing up with your woods.

My balance is frequently off during the finish of my swing. What can I do to correct and improve this?

When you are in the 10 to 30 yards off the green area, do you know which wedge to use? If not, you need to spend some time hitting balls with all 3 of your wedges from at least 3 different distances, 10, 20, and 30 yards out.
